Using high pressure, or a pressure washer, on many surfaces will damage the surface itself, Chipping paint and breaking up brick and stone.
House washing or soft washing is the process of mixing detergents to do the same job.
The mix, or ‘house wash mix’ is sprayed an allowed to dwell on the surface to do its work, and after 10 or 15 minutes rinsed off
Honesty in advice. Some homes simply don’t need a detergent application, requiring only a hose down and brush instead.
At Simons, we not only give you the right advice, but we also offer both services.
Having washed down hundreds of homes around Sydneys Eastern Suburbs, Lower North Shore and Inner West we can tell you with certainty where a house/soft wash is necessary, or alternatively where brushing down would be just as effective
For our house wash mix we use a combination of a surfactant as well as a small concentration of chlorine, usually between 1%-3% of the active ingredient sodium hypochlorite

No.
The detergent will have no impact and bleach will only affect your plants in high concentrations, and when it starts to dry as sodium hypochlorite is essentially a salt.
As it dries the crystal contracts and that’s when it can leach colour and kill plants
By pre-wetting surfaces and rinsing this concern is taken away
Not long at all. We have posted videos highlighting the application process. Once we’re set up a single story home shouldn’t take more than 2 hours to complete
With our telescopic pole systems we can soft wash comfortably up to 3 stories
Soft washing on decking is not best practice however can be done.
Decking is pre rinsed with water to stop the bleach crystals from penetrating deep into the fibres and then a light application of detergent and bleach is then used until mould is removed
Decking is then rinsed with a low pressured pressure washer
Soft washing is the preferred method of soft washing a pergola.
Stunning results in most cases
No, soft washing will not damage paintwork at all. In fact it will in most cases prolong the life of your paintwork and negate any immediate need to repaint your home
Never easy to predict, but all soft-wash/house-wash applications should last for at least a year and in most cases well over 2.
Simons have agents that will mask the smell of bleach on your home and can be added on request.
